Sophisticated Boho Beachy Style

Boho Chic

Stylish, boho chic

Blackband Design Interior Designers keep popping up on my radar. I have featured a number of their projects over the years so I obviously find their design aesthetic very appealing and I'm sure you'll agree with me this beach house with its relaxed boho vibe is worthy of showcasing.

When Blackband Design began renovations on a stylish, young family’s home in Orange County, they had one objective: “take the home in a more modern, coastal direction”. Infusing the family’s cool, laid-back sense of style with Blackband’s signature “coastal bohemian” aesthetic, they created a bright, happy space that showcases a textural mix of furniture, d├ęcor, and art. The Blackband team remodeled the entire main floor, striking a beautiful balance between the easy flow of an open layout and distinct spaces with individual identities. The end result is a breezy home with a modern, beachy twist.

A Light & Airy Beach House in Montauk

Weekend Relaxing

I am loving the eclectic vibe of this beach house.

Designed by architecture and interior design practice Space Exploration, this beach house is situated in Montauk in the Hamptons. The three-story, split level house for a young family is nestled atop a densely wooded bluff, surrounded by sumac and spruce trees. Space Exploration designed an open kitchen on the top floor of the house to act as a flexible social hub for the house, and to maximize the site’s dramatic views of Fort Pond and the bay. Floor-to-ceiling sliding doors and a large rectangular skylight flood the space with an abundance of natural light. The designers used a material palette of light, neutral colors and pale woods, which combine to create a tranquil, airy atmosphere that showcase an eclectic collection of furniture and objects, collected by the owners during travels to Morocco, Europe and Central America.

A house with a checkered past!

This refined, yet casual beach house was designed as a holiday home by designer Karen Akers, located on Gerroa Beach, a coastal town in New South Wales, Australia. An old style bungalow, the abode is perfectly positioned right on the beach, re-designed to meet the lifestyle needs of a young family. The interiors were infused with a soothing palette of colors, materials and textures, creating a coastal oasis. The home’s history is interesting, it was once a bowling club house, which was transported to the current site by its previous owners. The configuration was in need of an update so that the home could be used for entertaining weekend guests. The kitchen was completely redone, an ensuite was added and an original bathroom was updated. The original flooring was replaced and interior doors were moved in order to enable a better flow throughout the spaces. New decks were added to both the front and back to create more outdoor living spaces. The back of the property faces the beach, so a swing was added, allowing for a cosy nook to enjoy the soothing ocean views. Since the home is positioned on a beach site, natural finishes were selected as much as possible. The majority of the materials that are original to the home were re-purposed wherever possible in the new design. As an example, the timber flooring you see on the floor has been salvaged, which creates a warm and cosy aesthetic to the space as well as a link to the past.
